OxyFerm FDA Arc Details

OxyFerm FDA Arc is an electrochemical polarographic dissolved oxygen (DO) sensor specifically designed for applications with high demands for hygiene in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and food & beverage industries. Building on Hamilton's proven electrochemical DO sensor technology, OxyFerm FDA Arc provides reliable dissolved oxygen measurements across a wide measuring range while meeting the requirements of hygienic production processes.

The sensor is equipped with a specially designed FDA-approved membrane with a rounded geometry that helps prevent gas bubble accumulation and ensures reliable measurement performance in sterile process environments. Its robust construction withstands steam sterilization, autoclaving, and CIP cleaning, supporting long-term operation under demanding hygienic process conditions.

Available with either a 12 mm or 25 mm (XL) shaft diameter, OxyFerm FDA Arc offers increased installation flexibility through a wide range of electrical connectors, process mounting options, and optional accessories. The traditional nanoamp (nA) output enables compatibility with a broad range of commercially available transmitters and process control systems.

Arc Technology

Does salinity impact my DO measurement?

Yes, salinity of a solution generally has an inverse relationship to the dissolved oxygen content within the solution. Arc sensors can have the salinity value of the liquid added in to correct the measurement by using ArcAir.

Does carbon dioxide sparging impact my DO measurement?

CO2 sparging will not impact the DO measurement using an optical DO sensor. CO2 can impact traditional polarographic DO sensors over time thus more frequent electrolyte replacement may be needed.

How should I store my polarographic DO sensor?

For short term storage (< 1 month), polarographic DO sensors should be stored wet in electrolyte solution with the membrane immersed in a watering cap. For long term storage (> 1 month), remove internal electrolyte, rinse cathode and membrane in deionized water, and store dry.
