CO₂NTROL RS485 Details

Hamilton's CO₂NTROL solid-state sensor offers maintenance-free, real-time, in-line dissolved CO₂ measurement, enabling automated control for improved titer, batch consistency, and scalability from R&D to production bioreactors.

Traditional electrochemical sensors measure DCO₂ based on the Severinghaus principle. This indirect measurement method combines the challenges of measuring pH and electrochemical DO into one sensor. The result is significant maintenance effort and multiple sources of drift that must be compensated for by time-consuming product calibration.

Common applications Pharma & Biopharma, Bioprocess Upstream, Water, Energy, & Environment, Water and Wastewater, Chemical Processes

Simple sensor calibration in air and gas.

Maintenance-free, requiring no liquid or part replacements, saving cost and time.

The measuring range is designed for bioproduction applications, covering 5 to 1000 mbar.

Integrated Intelligence

Arc sensors save space and cost with integrated micro-transmitters that store calibration and sensor quality data.

Compliant Hygienic Design

The hygienic design makes it compliant with requirements of biopharma applications.

How It's Used

Real-time Monitoring of DCO2 in addition to DO

Using Hamilton’s CO₂NTROL and VisiFerm sensors, this study demonstrates how continuous, in-line data collection provides deeper insights into cell metabolism and allows for rapid adjustments to maintain optimal conditions. From observing metabolic activity to managing key parameters like viable cell density and glucose levels, the findings highlight the impact of real-time data on enhancing process control and productivity.
