Glucosense Membrane Details

Hamilton’s GlucoSense Membrane is a key component enabling selective, in-situ glucose measurement within complex bioprocess media. This single-process membrane acts as a molecular filter, allowing only small molecules, such as glucose, to diffuse through while excluding larger particles, such as cells or organic debris, that could interfere with the sensor's optical detection.

Designed to be compatible with autoclavation, the membrane supports GMP compliance and easy replacement between runs for consistent, contamination-free operation. Its biocompatible construction (PEEK, Silicone, PTFE) supports use in GMP-regulated environments.

To achieve the expected accuracy, a new membrane should be mounted before every bioprocess run using the dedicated mounting tool.

Common applications Pharma & Biopharma, Bioprocess Upstream

Enables accurate glucose detection by filtering out cells and debris.

Fully compatible with autoclave procedures for hygienic operation.

Biocompatible materials (PEEK, Silicone, PTFE) ensure consistent performance across process types.

Selective Molecular Filtration

The single-process membrane acts as a molecular filter, allowing small molecules like glucose to diffuse through to the sensing element.

  • Excludes larger interfering particles such as cells and organic debris.
  • Ensures reliable optical detection in complex bioprocess media.

Process-Ready and Hygienic

The membrane is fully compatible with autoclavable procedures, and can be easily replaced between runs for consistent, contamination-free operation.

  • Biocompatible materials are suitable for use in GMP environments.
  • Designed for quick mounting and dismounting using the GlucoSense Membrane Tool.
