Easy-to-Use Automation Software for Hamilton Storage Platforms

INSTINCT S is our powerful sample management software that is available across all Hamilton automated sample storage platforms - Verso Q-Series, Verso, Verso Dx, SAM HD Pro, and BiOS systems. The beauty of INSTINCT S is its simplicity; the software allows users to operate the automated sample storage system with minimal training.

Additionally, the software's dynamic Application Programming Interface (API) is able to interact directly with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or with Hamilton liquid handling workstations.

Some examples for successful integration with LIMS and sample management software using our API include Titian Mosaic, LabWare LIMS, and Labvantage, to name just a few.

The API includes many functionalities that are available on the user interface, such as:

  • Job Management - create, modify, cancel, or pause jobs
  • Sample Inventory - information on the sample in the system or historical placement of the sample
  • Notifications - inform the LIMS when a job has changed states, or when a sample has been moved into or removed from the storage system to help keep the LIMS synchronized with the physical state

Introductions Made Easy

With pre-defined shortcuts that allow sample introductions into a logical library, users can control each study's library and access to it, as well as reports highlighting the library's inventory.

Track All of Your Jobs

The Job Manager gives users a list of completed jobs. The Job Results feature will list the racks and tubes that were picked for a given job and has the option to export that list as a CSV file.

A Look Under the Hood

The Maintenance Tab gives users a visual of their inventory, showing where racks are in the system and information about each rack, such as rack ID and number of tubes in the rack.

Insightful Analytics for Smarter Decisions

Hamilton is pleased to offer the InVision Data Analytics package as an optional add-on to BiOS warranties and service contracts. InVision provides robust, user-friendly Microsoft Power BI-based reports that filter data from the BiOS system’s SQL database and displays it graphically in an aesthetic, easy-to-understand format.

Output Flexibility

InVision can present both Executive and Technical reports to meet the needs of different stakeholders. The software can run useful reports for both high-level management as well as day-to-day operational users. Additionally, users can dynamically filter the display output by time period, physical location, labware type, library, job type, and more.

InVision Data Analytics reports include:

  • System Overview - High-level view of system availability, executed jobs, average fill density, occupied storage cassettes, and freezer temperature by location
  • System Availability - Percentage of time online and active hours for the selected period
  • Job Usage Trends - Total jobs completed, job quantity by outcome, and percentage of total runtime by job type for the selected period
  • Recent Job Performance - Number of jobs completed, number of tubes picked, average tubes per pick job, average hit rate, and maximum number of tubes picked per hour for the selected period
  • Refrigeration Performance Data - Temperature min/max, average daily temperature, refrigeration demand percentage, and percent of time in range by freezer
  • Environmental Data - Temperature min/max and average temperature for cold room, average picker temperature, and exterior room temperature min/max and dew point min/max for the selected period
  • Material Storage Details - Quantities of racks and tubes stored and average fill density by library and freezer location
  • Container History - Displays full history of locations and date stamps for a specified barcode
  • Labware Search - Filter a list of labware by type and status
  • User Roles and Functions - Displays lists of assigned user roles, windows groups with assigned roles, and permitted functions by assigned role
