Gas Tight Seals for the Utmost Uptime

Focus uninterrupted on your gas chromatography (GC) techniques with Hamilton’s GC septa. Our long-lasting, gas tight GC inlet septa materials withstand repeat injections while minimizing background signals.

Preconditioned PTFE or silicone rubber materials allow for repeat injections without sticking, and low bleed to minimize background noise.

GC septa are ideal for general-purpose use as well as highly sensitive applications like GC mass spectrometry (GC-MS) or GC tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS).

Hamilton GC Septa Benefits

  • Universal fit for use with any GC column

All Hamilton septa for gas chromatography are fully compatible with GC columns from any manufacturer.

  • Full portfolio for broad application use

Our GC septa can be used for low- and high-molecular weight compound analysis and other chromatographic criteria.

  • Less downtime

With long-life materials, low bleed, and anti-coring features, you can reduce the hassle of frequent GC septum changes.

Septa for Gas Chromatography

Three Layer GC Septa

Three Layer Septa is made of preconditioned silicone rubber and is 3.81 mm (0.150 in) thick. The average life of these rubber septa is up to 100 injections with a 26s gauge needle. The maximum operating temperature is 200° C.

Septa for Gas Chromatography

High Temperature GC Septa

High Temperature Septa is made of preconditioned PTFE/silicone rubber and is 3.175 mm (0.125 in) thick. The average life of these septa is up to 100 injections with a 26s gauge needle. The maximum operating temperature is 212° C.

Long Life GC Septa

Long Life GC Septa are non-stick and provide reliable seals under carrier gas pressure in the inlet. All Long Life septa are available with a unique pre-pierced center depression to guide the syringe needle to the same injection point, extending septa life, reducing needle bending, and eliminating the common type of coring that occurs on the first injection.

Septa for Gas Chromatography

Low Bleed High Temperature GC Septa

Low Bleed High Temperature Septa have a non-stick surface with a center guide recess except for 9.5mm and 10 mm. They are formulated for the lowest bleed possible at temperatures up to 400 °C, except 330 °C for the 17 mm size. They are optimized for the most demanding GC and GC-MS applications.

What is the Function of a Septum in Gas Chromatography?

The primary function of a septum is to create a leak-free seal between the atmosphere and carrier gas. Inlet septa are used to seal injection ports in gas chromatography systems to help ensure the efficiency of sample transfer. Septa are designed to withstand high temperatures and repeated punctures without coring or leaking, known as septum bleed. GC Septa can be made of either soft or hard materials, including silicone rubber or PTFE.

Hamilton's gas chromatography septa caps are employed in diverse industries and sectors such as environmental, oil & gas, forensics, and fragrances.
