Hamilton's  1700 series, Gastight, Bubble Free Prime, Half-Height #1710.5 Bubble Free Prime (BFP, 5/16"-28) Syringes with X-Style plunger  features a conical plunger tip which extends through the threaded termination of the syringe and into the valve. This unique design expels the air from the syringe and valve decreasing the number of cycles required to prime the fluid path.  This series of syringes are ideal for dispensing both liquids and gases. Longlife Half-Height Syringes are designed for durability and precision. Featuring a plunger tip made from Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), this syringe offers superior resistance to abrasion. It is specifically developed to withstand extreme and harsh conditions. With a 30 mm stroke length, it is compatible with Hamilton's PSD/ 4 Syringe Pumps, making it ideal for applications requiring precise liquid handling and robust performance in demanding environments.

What is the difference between Bubble Free Prime (BFP) Syringes and Luer Lock (TLL) Syringes?

For any syringe pump, the key to achieving the most accurate dispenses is eliminating all air from the fluid path. Traditional syringes trap approximately 50 μL of air between the tip of the syringe and the valve. For small syringes, this trapped air is the last to leave the syringe and the first to be drawn back in, making them difficult to prime. The Bubble Free Prime (BFP) syringe features a conical plunger tip which expels the air from the syringe and valve decreasing the number of priming cycles required to eliminate air bubbles from within the flow path.
