Hamilton, together with Coastal Genomics, developed the NIMBUS Select assay ready workstation with Ranger Technology for high-throughput nucleic acid size selection for use in NGS/MPS, cloning, gene synthesis, quality control, and other applications. The NIMBUS Select is the only system to fully automate agarose gel loading, electrophoretic analysis, and recovery of targeted DNA fragments for DNA size selection and analysis of nucleic acids. Up to 96 DNA samples may be processed in two hours, and up to 384 electropherograms may be created in a single run.

Fully Automated 3-in-1 Tool
The NIMBUS Select is a versatile 3-in-1 tool, combining automated electrophoretic fragment analysis, size selection, and liquid handling in one compact footprint. This consolidated format improves efficiency and reduces active labor time while increasing throughput compared to manual methods. At the same time, Ranger Technology from Coastal Genomics eliminates closely-sized primers and adaptermers, and recovers tightly-defined DNA fragment lengths for high recovery yields.
Size Selection Mode
Up to 96 samples are automatically loaded into gels for electrophoresis, which is monitored and documented by a camera, and an electropherogram is generated. The target fragment range is then identified and extracted for downstream applications. Image-based monitoring and documentation is conducted in real-time, and this information is used to automatically control electrophoresis on a sample-specific basis. This process enables accurate, repeatable, and high-yield recoveries without user-based errors and variability, or off-target selection. Additionally, the high-throughput capacity simultaneously processes significantly more samples compared to manual methods in a hands-free format, so that users can refocus their attention on high-value activities.
