Hamilton's ID Nimbus

A Complete Family of Automated Instruments for Post-PCR Workflows

Hamilton’s ID NIMBUS, ID VANTAGE, and ID STARlet assay ready workstations allow analysts to refocus attention away from time-consuming, low-value and user-variable manual post-PCR workflow steps while gaining valuable, high-quality data and ultimately fortifying confidence in sample processing and data integrity. Flexibility extends to models that meet any throughput requirements with a range of optional features, and also including capabilities for traditional capillary electrophoresis (CE) or cutting-edge massively parallel sequencing (MPS) methods. The assay ready workstations are specifically programmed and qualified to accommodate assay chemistries from leading providers so that users can bypass lengthy programming procedures and time-consuming self-qualifications. By doing so, users are assured that the workflow is optimized for robust, consistent performance.

The Advantage of Choice

ID NIMBUS and ID VANTAGE are adaptable for post-PCR library construction in CE and MPS workflows, and are ideal for those who are transitioning from one method to the other, or already using MPS technologies for the added advantage of highly-sensitive phenotype and genotype data, even from samples that are highly degraded, of low quality, or that contain complex DNA sample mixtures. Analysts can choose from models specific for use with Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Precision ID or Verogen’s ForenSeq DNA Signature Prep Kit MPS-based assay chemistries. ID NIMBUS and ID VANTAGE are also qualified for use with traditional CE assay chemistries from Thermo Fisher Scientific.

ID STARlet is suited for those who prefer a tried-and-true system for CE workflow post-PCR sample processing, including Thermo Fisher Scientific assay chemistries.

Protect Sample Integrity and Reduce Manual Intervention

The fully-enclosed ID NIMBUS and ID VANTAGE assay ready workstations feature high density footprints; and the ID VANTAGE includes the hands-free convenience of a standard on-deck thermocycler (ODTC) for enhanced efficiency in any sized laboratory. Independent pipetting channels and hands-free autoloading (ID STARlet and ID VANTAGE) eliminate risk of sample carryover, while Hamilton’s ISO-certified, positive pressure, HEPA-filtered Clean Air Protection (CAP) System protects samples from environmental contaminants, and standard UV lights further safeguard against sample contamination. HEPA filter and UV lights are optionally available for use with ID STARlet.

Workflow Efficiency with Data Integrity

Worklists may be automatically generated, and the user-friendly software guides analysts through instrument operation without the need for specialized expertise. Lockout controls prevent accidental or unauthorized changes, while 1D handheld barcode scanners (ID NIMBUS) or 1D and 2D system barcode scanners (ID STARlet and ID VANTAGE) ensure a fully traceable digital audit trail. This includes correlating samples with the case number and assigned analyst, and tracking samples through each workflow step without risk of manual documentation errors. Consistent and standardized run files, including all robotic actions and sample locations, may be downloaded as part of case file documentation.
