Sample preparation for gene expression studies using microarrays is a very time-consuming, error-prone procedure involving a large number of pipetting steps. Based on a MICROLAB® STAR, Hamilton has developed a versatile liquid handling workstation that automates sample preparation for microarray analysis, including incubations on a thermal cycler and a microplate reader for sample quality control. The automated workflow includes all sample preparation steps from tissue to hybridization-ready samples: RNA isolation – RNA quantification/normalization – cDNA synthesis and cleanup – in-vitro-transcription – cRNA cleanup/quantification/normalization – fragmentation – preparation for hybridization.
