The easyBlood STAR and STARlet assay ready workstation fully automates image-based fractionated blood layer detection and fraction transfer, including plasma, buffy coat, and red blood cells, into one or multiple aliquots. Full traceability is provided, along with flexibility for additional automated applications related to the aliquoted fractions. Up to 144 primary samples may be processed at once.

Precise Blood Layer Transfer

Once the layers are identified, they are transferred to target containers in a user-defined single or multiple aliquot pattern. Air displacement pipetting using Hamilton tips with CO-RE (Compressed O-Ring Expansion) technology provides superior measurement accuracy, precision and reproducibility without aerosol generation during tip pick-up and ejection. The system includes predefined liquid classes specific to each blood fraction to enhance reliability.

Advanced Image-Based Fraction Detection

Automated high-resolution imaging and software identify plasma, buffy coat and red blood cell layers, with user-definable thresholds and detection limits. Sample images and associated processing parameters are stored and downloadable for full sample traceability.

Hands-Free Sample Loading and Identification

Autoload automatically places samples onto the system and records each sample barcode for positive identification, ensuring that preparation and associated data for each is protected and logged. Up to 6 sample carriers may be loaded sequentially.

Personalized Solutions

The easyBlood is configurable for use on a STARlet or STAR platform with up to eight independent 1000 µL channels. Pre-programmed method templates allow user-friendly personalization for specific workflows.

Featured Additions

Additional conveniences and flexible features include a camera channel, mirror carriers for imaging, sample tube carriers, and deck equipment for basic applications, as well as the easyCode carrier for 2D barcode reading on microtube racks. The easyBlood also features accessories for downstream applications such as cfDNA extractions, genomic DNA isolation, or MPS library preparation.
