Hamilton’s OxyFerm FDA Dissolved Oxygen sensors are robust electrochemical dissolved oxygen sensors for demanding hygienic processes. It features an FDA-approved membrane, withstands steam sterilization, autoclaving, and CIP, and allows for upside-down insertion when used in combination with Oxylyte USD electrolyte.

Does salinity impact my DO measurement?

Yes, salinity of a solution generally has an inverse relationship to the dissolved oxygen content within the solution. Arc sensors can have the salinity value of the liquid added in to correct the measurement by using ArcAir.

When should I replace the membrane and electrolyte in my polarographic DO sensor?

The frequency of membrane and electrolyte replacement is process specific and will vary. Routine calibration before each run can identify a high nA current at the nitrogen zero point or low nA current in air, indicating a need to replace the membrane and electrolyte. How should I store my polarographic DO sensor?

For short term storage (< 1 month), polarographic DO sensors should be stored wet in electrolyte solution with the membrane immersed in a watering cap. For long term storage (> 1 month), remove internal electrolyte, rinse cathode and membrane in deionized water, and store dry.
