Medicinal Chemistry, Compound Synthesis and Management
Key of most common drug discovery processes is the compounds, usually small molecules that are chemically synthesized. Portions need to be solubilized and subsequently dispensed to compound plates for tests or to vials for storage.
Automation is essential as it enables throughput and environmental control required during the process. Automated synthesis of high variety of compounds is done for filling the compound libraries and for modification of hits to generate lead structures. Automated storage and retrieval including picking of individual tubes eliminates variation in storage conditions that could compromise the compounds and therefore influence test results. For a big variety of assays during the Drug Discovery process, huge amounts of assay ready plates need to be generated by dispensing small volumes of compounds and precise amounts of buffers.
