Reno, Nevada (January 25, 2016) – Hamilton Robotics announces the NIMBUS8 - increasing the throughput and flexibility of its entry-level, compact, liquid handling platform, Microlab NIMBUS. The new system features up to eight independent pipetting channels and a new design with 9 mm center-to-center channel spacing. The enhancements enable increased pipetting speed, easier programming, and overall faster operation. All eight pipetting channels can access labware independently and simultaneously with variable y-axis spanning as well as randomly pipette across the entire deck surface.

Like all versions of the NIMBUS platform, NIMBUS8 can be configured with a choice of decks, including the high-density deck, which provides up to 20 SBS locations on the compact platform. The high-density deck offers higher throughput and longer unattended runs than standard deck configurations, and provides the highest number of labware positions of any compact, personal pipetting workstation on the market. The high-density deck also features new, flexible labware carriers for on-the-fly deck changes.

“The new options for the NIMBUS platform enable us to deliver eight-channel, liquid handling automation with the flexibility and functionality our customers need and expect, on our smallest platform, and with the potential to save our customers money,” explained Garrett Voss, product manager for Hamilton. “The NIMBUS8 workstation represents our commitment to making ongoing technological advancements to our entry-level platform. Scientists are asking for an economical, compact, flexible pipetting solution and with the addition of the NIMBUS8 to our portfolio, we’ve delivered.”

The NIMBUS8 is an ideal automated liquid handling solution for a range of applications requiring a high-throughput, small-footprint workstation, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR setup and cleanup, and sample preparation for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and mass spectrometry (MS).
