Originally made from glass, laboratory consumables are now predominantly produced using petroleum-based plastics. These materials ensure that the stringent quality standards required for advanced research are consistently met across laboratories worldwide.

However, as the demand for more sustainable practices grows, the challenge of reducing environmental impact has become increasingly urgent. Hamilton is committed to addressing this issue by focusing on the development of both innovative and environmentally responsible products.

In the consumables sector, Hamilton is actively pursuing various initiatives aimed at reducing its CO₂ footprint. As part of these efforts, Hamilton Bonaduz AG has launched the first-ever pipetting tips for automation made from 65% to 75% ISCC PLUS-certified polypropylene. This material is derived from bio-circular feedstocks—rather than fossil sources—through a mass balance approach.
