Why should laboratories consider automating DNA clean-up and size selection in NGS library preparation workflows?
Automating DNA clean-up and size selection can improve efficiency, consistency, and cost control in NGS library preparation workflows.
In this study using the New England Biolabs NEBNext® Ultra™ II DNA Library Prep protocol for Illumina® sequencing, a manual magnetic bead–based clean-up workflow required 82 minutes of hands-on time per run. Performing the same workflow on the Microlab PuriFY benchtop automated nucleic acid purifier reduced hands-on time to 15 minutes.
This represents 67 minutes of scientist time recovered for every library preparation, allowing researchers to spend less time pipetting and more time preparing experiments, reviewing data, or advancing sequencing workflows.
