Hamilton‘s OnDemand Sensor Program for the Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH
Hamilton has offered the option of leasing sensors for use in brewery applications since 2017. After originally only offering oxygen sensors, thanks to the good response from the market, Hamilton OnDemand now also includes state-of-the-art sensors for efficient yeast management. But how exactly does OnDemand work? Our oxygen sensors, for example, are known for their exceptional robustness and guarantee reliable performance even under demanding conditions. However, to ensure consistently high measurement accuracy, regular maintenance is essential. With OnDemand, Hamilton not only offers a convenient solution, but also provides the customer with a completely worry-free measuring parameter: The sensors are not purchased, instead a customer subscribes to a measuring parameter for an annual fixed amount, without any additional costs for maintenance.
The included sensors are proactively replaced by Hamilton Service every year. The exchange happens after consultation with the customer and via mail. The factory serviced and calibrated sensor will be sent to the customer prior to the replacement date. In addition, the customer has access to our technical support at any time. In comparison to the classic purchase of measuring technology, there are no high initial investment costs nor annual expenses for wear and labor, which are difficult to forcast. This enables flexible and affordable access to the latest measurement technology.
We spoke to customers about OnDemand and would like to present breweries that have already opted in for this service in this series. We shed light on their motivations and ask about their satisfaction.
In this part we would like to introduce you to Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH in Braunschweig.
The Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH
Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH is a regional brewery in Braunschweig and the largest privately owned brewery in Lower Saxony. As a mid-sized company, the brewery has a tradition dating back to the year 1627.
What sets Wolters GmbH apart?
The “Herzogliches Hofbrauhaus” award was given to the brewery in 1882, from which the authorization for the continued use of the prefix Hof is derived to this day. The brewery is characterized by its connection to the city of Braunschweig and the region.
Why OnDemand?
Numerous in-line sensors from Hamilton are in use in the Hofbrauhaus facilities. Due to their variety of brews, the sensors are exposed to great stress. The brewery was presented with the OnDemand model as a replacement option for a defective sensor, which they ultimately chose due to the potential savings in maintenance time and costs. The annual general overhaul can have a positive effect on the lifespan of the sensor. This also offers advantages in terms of sustainability. The brewery recommends OnDemand to potential customers who are constantly using the sensors.
Where is OnDemand used?
The sensor is used for in-line oxygen measurement on the can filler. The Hofbrauhaus is very satisfied with the sensor subscription. Replacing the sensor annually is extremely practical: remove the old sensor and send it for overhaul, install the new sensor and continue production. Initial technical questions were quickly answered through contact with Hamilton employees. For these reasons, they would choose the subscription again at any time.
