High-Throughput Pharmaceutical Protein Production with bioREACTOR 48
Efficient strain screening is critical for recombinant protein development. This application note presents an automated high-throughput fermentation platform combining the Hamilton Microlab® STARlet with the 2mag bioREACTOR 48 to accelerate process optimization using WACKER’s ESETEC® secretion system. The solution enables parallel cultivation of up to 48 E. coli strains with controlled feeding, pH adjustment, induction, and sampling.
- Parallel process development: Screen up to 48 strains simultaneously under fermenter-like conditions.
- Improved scalability: Demonstrated one-to-one transferability of optimized conditions from HTF-robot to 1L fermenter scale.
- Higher productivity vs. shake flasks: Achieved up to 5–8× higher OD600 and 8–10× higher product titers.
