Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) is a multi-disciplinary clinical specialty aimed at improving patient care by monitoring drug concentration levels in blood. It enables the adjustment of drug dosages in order to improve patient outcomes.

The growing interest in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring  stems from several converging factors, including the broader adoption of organ transplantation, an increasing recognition of how precision medicine can enhance patient outcomes, and the emergence of highly accurate and specific quantitative testing methods available through LC/MS and immunoassay platforms.

To ensure the delivery of highly reliable results within the time requested, automation of the sample pre-treatment is key. The goal of delivering high standards while facing resource restrictions is a clear challenge within clinical laboratories.

In this Application Note, we describe how the sample pre-treatment can be automated in order to simplify both the TDM workflow and sample management.

 Key benefits include:

  • Minimizing sample mixing via increased traceability
  • Reducing hands-on time
  • Achieving higher process safety and data reproducibility.
