Protein analysis workflows require the removal of impurities that can interfere with downstream processes and analytical measurements from basic research to quality control of biotherapeutics. Size exclusion chromatography is used due to its ability to gently and efficiently reduce interfering small molecules and salts like guanidine from larger proteins prior to a digest or elimination of imidazole after a Ni-NTA purification of His-tagged proteins. SizeX IMCStips® are miniaturized size exclusion pipette tips and are an effective method for protein analysis due to the mild separation conditions used to obtain high-resolution separations. Here, we demonstrate the reproducible and high-yield performance of SizeX IMCStips on a Hamilton Microlab STAR V liquid handling system by removing imidazole salts from an IgG antibody solution.

High reproducibility and yield
Hamilton Microlab STAR V allows high reproducibility and high yield of antibody recoveries after size exclusion chromatography using 8 individual pipetting channels and 96 Multiprobe Head.

The manual processing of dozens-to-hundreds of protein samples (e.g. for buffer exchange) can be both tedious and error-prone. Microlab STAR V allows high-through put and significantly reduces hands-on time.
