This course focuses on the molecularly-induced functional changes within the nervous system in various disease states. Students will gain an explanation of the cellular and molecular actions of drugs on synaptic transmission which is important for understanding and researching how they alter behavior. By the end of the course, we hope that students will be able to read and discuss scientific articles in addition to developing critical thinking skills involved in problem solving and the rigor of designing and carrying out scientific experiments. Ultimately, this class aims to prepare students to become active members of an academic, scientific, and medical community.

We will be using the syringes to microinject an enzyme to test the strength of drug associated memories.

Hamilton syringes will help us efficiently administer the enzyme, reducing human error and increasing our success rate of "reached" injections.
