Cell Counting Confluence and Viability


Measuring cell confluence, counting cells and assessing viability are routine tasks in cell culture. Researchers have to perform these tasks often to know when cells have reached their optimum growth density and need to be passaged and re-seeded to a new plate at a certain density for further passaging.  Researchers also need to assess cells to ensure that viable and healthy cells will be used in downstream assays.

Viability assays are also used to help researchers assess the impact and performance of drug candidates or other compounds on cell viability. However, manually performing viability assays can result in accuracy and reproducibility problems and is extremely time consuming and tedious.
