A Complete Family of Automated Instruments for PRE-PCR Workflows

The ID NIMBUS, ID NIMBUS Presto, ID VANTAGE and ID STARlet assay ready workstations allow analysts to refocus attention away from time-consuming, low value and user-variable manual pre-PCR workflow steps while gaining valuable, high-quality data and ultimately fortifying confidence in sample processing and data integrity. The ID Systems are excellent tools for extraction, quantification, normalization and amplification steps. Several options are available to suit requirements for throughput, traditional capillary electrophoresis (CE) or cutting-edge massively parallel sequencing (MPS) methods. Additionally, the assay ready workstations are specifically programmed and qualified to accommodate assay chemistries from leading providers so that users can bypass lengthy programming procedures and time-consuming self-qualifications. By doing so, users are assured that the workflow is optimized for robust, consistent performance.

Features and Benefits

The Advantage of Choice

ID NIMBUS and ID VANTAGE are adaptable for pre-PCR CE and MPS workflows, and are ideal for those who are transitioning from one method to the other, or already using MPS technologies for the added advantage of highly-sensitive phenotype and genotype data, even from samples that are highly degraded, of low quality, or that contain complex DNA sample mixtures. Analysts can choose from models specific for use with MPS assay chemistries from Thermo Fisher Scientific and Verogen; and CE assay chemistries from Promega, QIAGEN, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. The ID NIMBUS Presto offers a fast and efficient solution for the extraction of DNA from higher volume samples.

ID STARlet is suited for those who prefer a tried-and-true system for CE workflow sample processing, including dedicated models for Thermo Fisher Scientific and Verogen kit chemistries in Europe.

Protect Sample Integrity and Reduce Manual Intervention

The fully-enclosed ID NIMBUS and ID VANTAGE assay ready workstations include Hamilton’s ISO-certified, positive pressure, HEPA-filtered Clean Air Protection (CAP) System to protect samples from environmental contaminants; and standard UV lights further safeguard against sample contamination. Larger ID STARlet and ID VANTAGE systems also offer the convenience of hands-free autoloading onto higher capacity decks.

Up to eight independent pipetting channels (system dependent) eliminate sample carryover. The hands-free automated workflow eliminates variability between analysts or between sample processing runs to increase confidence in every sample processing step.

Workflow Efficiency with Data Integrity

Worklists may be automatically generated, and the user-friendly software guides analysts through instrument operation without the need for specialized expertise. Lockout controls prevent accidental or unauthorized changes, while 1D handheld barcode scanners (ID NIMBUS) or 1D and 2D system barcode scanners (ID STARlet and ID VANTAGE) ensure a fully traceable digital audit trail. This includes correlating samples with the case number and assigned analyst, and tracking samples through each workflow step without risk of manual documentation errors. Consistent and standardized run files, including all robotic actions and sample locations, may be downloaded as part of forensic case file documentation.

Precise, Repeatable Liquid Handling

Air displacement pipetting using Hamilton tips with CO-RE (Compressed O-Ring Expansion) technology provides superior measurement accuracy, precision, and reproducibility without tip distortion or aerosol generation during tip pick-up and ejection.
