The key to liquid handling workflow excellence
The Key to Liquid Handling Workflow Excellence
Continuing the Legacy of Liquid Handling Leadership
For over seven decades, Hamilton has set the standard in high-precision liquid handling. Our automated liquid handling systems are used across the world in a wide variety of distinct applications ranging from highly nuanced NGS library prep workflows to high-throughput compound screens, rugged industrial chemical testing, ground-breaking biofuels research, and more.
Our latest CO-RE II technology embodies our commitment to empowering the latest scientific breakthroughs, easing workflows, and positively impacting the world.
What is CO-RE II Technology?
The second generation of our exclusive Compressed O-Ring Expansion (CO-RE II) technology starts with a special O-ring on the coupling of each pipetting channel in our automated liquid handlers. This O-ring precisely corresponds with a small circular groove on the interior of our CO-RE II pipette tips and CO-RE tools.
The O-ring is compressed when a tip or tool is attached to a pipette channel to create an air-tight seal without the use of mechanical force.
Compared to our previous generation technology, CO-RE II offers these benefits:
- Extended tip sealing life of O-rings, up to 15x the average life span
- Lifetime stop disk design
- Enhanced hardware chemical resistance
- Improved tip alignment and retention
- Extended service interval requirements
- Equivalent fluidic performance on existing methods with no change in TADM or liquid class
- Reduced service needs
CO-RE II Technology Amplifies Pipetting Performance
The secure lock-and-key fit between each pipette channel and pipette tip means that your automated liquid handling workflows are extremely accurate, repeatable, and reproducible.
- Non-mechanical mechanism prevents equipment wear and reduces maintenance frequency
- Leak-free seal for the utmost in liquid handling performance
- Force-free attachment to securely retain tips without deformation risk
- Gentle tip ejection to prevent aerosol formation
- Precise tip alignment to prevent errors and contamination
- Sensitive z-step loss monitoring to protect against unplanned maintenance
Supports Liquid Handling Performance Verification Technologies
The tight seal created by CO-RE II technology benefits our performance monitoring technologies. With these, you can gain even more confidence in your Hamilton automated liquid handler.
- Total Aspiration and Dispense Monitoring (TADM) – real-time pressure monitoring of each pipetting channel.
- Monitored Air Displacement (MAD) – detects potential aspiration issues and confirms successful aspiration.
- Liquid Level Detection (LLD) – uses pressure and capacitance sensors on each channel to detect foam and optimize pipetting relative to the specific liquid class.
CO-RE II Technology as an On-Deck Transportation Tool
The automated liquid handler automatically recognizes optional CO-RE tools like transfer paddles that precisely and securely transport microplates, PCR plates, and other consumable labware around the deck.
- Enhance walkaway convenience
- Increase consistent handling
- Eliminate labware positioning errors
