Glucose Sensors
Pioneering real-time glucose monitoring for mammalian cell culture bioprocessing.
Optimizing Cell Culture Bioprocessing with Real-Time Glucose Control
Glucose is a critical process parameter in cell cultures. Yet, its real-time control remains a significant challenge in bioprocessing R&D. Current methods, such as off-line measurements or complex fiber-optic spectrometers, are often time-consuming, difficult to use, or require specialized expertise.
Hamilton's GlucoSense sensor offers a pioneering solution: an easy-to-use, robust, optical MIR glucose sensor designed for real-time, in-situ monitoring of glucose in mammalian cell culture bioreactors. The need for external spectrometers and complex calibrations is eliminated, enabling accurate measurements and faster process development. Compatible with existing PG 13.5 bioreactor ports and various cleaning processes, the GlucoSense sensor streamlines your workflow, reduces manual errors, and enhances process reproducibility.

Efficient Glucose Monitoring: The Hamilton Workflow
The GlucoSense Sensor streamlines crucial bioprocessing measurements with a seamless, seven-step workflow designed for easy operation and accurate, real-time glucose monitoring from day one.
- The process begins with sensor verification to confirm functionality.
- Next, the GlucoSense membrane is mounted effortlessly, which filters cells to ensure precise glucose measurements.
- The sensor is integrated into the bioreactor, followed by autoclave sterilization, medium addition, and straightforward in-situ process calibration, eliminating the need for complex, weeks-long calibrations required by other technologies. During cell culture monitoring, the sensor provides real-time glucose data every 10 minutes, significantly increasing data frequency for optimized feedback control and reducing the risk of cultivation starvation.
- After the process ends, the sensor is removed, the membrane is dismounted, and the sensor is cleaned.
