How It's Used

Increasing Time Efficiency and Performance Consistency

A young pharmatech company seeks to challenge and change the status quo when engineering drugs to benefit patients. At the day-to-day tactical level, they leverage automated tools, including the Verso Q20 automated sample storage system from Hamilton, to save valuable processing and labor time.

Verso Q-Series - Ambient to Minus 20°C Automated Lab Freezers

Automated Freezer Storage Right Where You Need It

The Verso Q-Series lineup of ambient to minus 20°C automated lab freezer storage systems boasts many of the accommodating features of a large refrigeration system in an extremely compact footprint. With Verso Q20, Verso Q50, and Verso Q75, your samples can be stored anywhere you need them. Thanks to fully automated designs, these small but powerful systems allow you to spend more time being productive and less time managing samples.

Flexible & Compact Sample Storage

Verso Q-Series allows users to pick one or 1,000 samples at the touch of a finger. The systems can be run day and night without supervision, allowing users to run jobs after hours to maximize daily productivity. Each of the Verso Q20, Verso Q50, and Verso Q75 has the ability to handle a wide variety of sample configurations and tube/plate types. They can store and manage almost any SBS-format labware in a single compact laboratory freezer, with a throughput of up to 390 tubes/hour.

Powerful INSTINCT S Software

Our Verso Q-Series automated sample storage platforms are powered by the intuitive and robust INSTINCT S software, enabling users to perform daily tasks with minimal training.

Common applications Genomics, Nucleic Acid Extraction, Biobanking, Pharma & Biopharma, Drug Discovery, Compound Handling, Gene and Cell Therapy, Bioprocess Downstream, Analytical Development and QC, Chemical Processes, Small Molecules Pharmaceuticals, Agri-Food and Beverage

Featured Technologies
  • Storage Technologies
    -20°C Barcode Reading

    For peak sample integrity

To ensure the highest possible sample safety, barcodes are scanned at -20°C within the system to minimize temperature fluctuations and prevent degradation. This helps maintain sample integrity and preserves high-quality data by reducing thaw cycles and temperature swings.

  • Storage Technologies
    AMR Integration

    For maximized efficiency

Enhance your lab's workflow by integrating the automated sample storage system with an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR). When integrated, these specialized robots offer location independence, high flexibility, and increased output. Enables higher-throughput storage and retrieval and supports integrated sample management solutions across rooms or floors.

  • Storage Technologies
    Touchscreen Monitor

    For direct interaction

An intuitive touchscreen monitor simplifies interactions, allows for precise control, and enhances the overall user experience. A user-friendly interface for at-a-glance status, job control, and exception handling.

  • Storage Technologies
    Customizable Picker Module

    For special applications

Verso's dynamic versatility allows labs with uncommon workflows to customize their sample management storage system. The system's picker can be modified to accommodate newborn screening cards, DNA collection cards, or even horizontal picking. The system is ideal for specialized sample collections where non-standard formats still need automated sample handling and traceable workflows.

  • Storage Technologies
    Tube Side Barcode Reader

    For enhanced traceability

An optional Tube Side Barcode Scanning Module is available to identify 1D and 2D barcodes on the sides of tubes and associate that barcode information with their location in the parent rack. Improves sample tracking and supports compound library governance by associating tube identity with rack and location history.

Explore Verso Q-Series

Verso Q-Series automated laboratory freezer storage systems allow you to spend less time managing your samples.

1

Input/Output Module

Introduce and retrieve samples simply using the multifunctional Input/Output (I/O) module. This frees up time to work on more important tasks, such as your research.
2

Touchscreen Monitor

The Touchscreen Monitor allows users to directly interact with INSTINCT S, making it quick and easy to navigate the software.
3

Minimize Downtime

Service to the system can be performed quickly and efficiently, as all major Verso Q-Series assemblies (picker, shuttle, etc.) are easily swappable.
4

Compact Footprint

Verso Q-Series platforms offer many of the accommodating features of a large system in a compact footprint, so your samples can be stored virtually anywhere you need them.

Ideal for Integration with Autonomous Mobile Robots

Enhance your lab's workflow by combining Verso Q-Series sample storage with an Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR).

Location Independence

Using Verso Q-Series with an AMR allows the storage platform to be placed in a different location than where the processing system is situated.

High Flexibility

With an AMR, samples from multiple systems can be stored in the Verso Q-Series. Additionally, this setup is infinitely scalable.

Increase Productivity

By utilizing AMRs in the lab, low-value tasks like transporting samples can be performed around the clock to significantly boost productivity.
