Hamilton manufactures the Arc Wi Adapters to provide Bluetooth wireless communications between Arc intelligent sensors and PCs / mobile devices running ArcAir software. There are two adapter versions: Wi 1G and Wi 2G. While these products look similar there are some basic considerations in selecting between each wireless product.

Wi 1G Bluetooth Adapter

Physical differences

The Wi 1G Adapter (Ref 243460) uses a male VP connector to mate to the cable back to the to control system.

When should I specify the Wi 1G Adapter?

The Wi 1G Adapter is a good choice for customers using the ECS signal (nA) or Modbus for direct connection to the bioreactor controller. Both ECS signal and Modbus RTU digital sensor signal pass through the Wi 1G Adapter. Wiring and recommended cables are listed below.

Note – a separate pulse width modulated 4 - 20mA output signal can also be derived from the Wi 1G Adapter but additional galvanic isolation maybe required. Refer to operators manual for more information.

Wi 2G Bluetooth Adapter

Physical Differences

The Wi 2G Bluetooth Adapter (Ref 243470) uses an M12 8-pole connector to mate to the control system. The lighted connector head it also slightly taller (14mm) than the Wi 1G.

When should I specify the Wi 2G Adapter?

The Wi 2G Adapter includes internal galvanic isolation of the 4 - 20 mA current outputs which simplifies installation of four wire connections in production installations. It is a good choice for environments where the potential for a ground loop may exist. The Wi 2G Adapter passes through (2) each 4 - 20mA outputs as well as the Modbus RTU signal to the control system. Wiring and cable recommendations are listed below.
