What is Automated Sample Management?

Automated sample management is a process by which lab samples are stored, tracked, and retrieved using sample management software and systems. Sample management systems typically include storage platforms and labware designed to handle the storage of samples in life science laboratories. These systems are often equipped with advanced features that enable accuracy and precision when storing large sample quantities.

Automated sample management is particularly useful for the long-term storage of samples. This eliminates the need for manual handling and reduces the risk of human error. Freezer storage is a common application for automated sample management, as many samples require strict storage conditions to maintain their integrity.

How Can Effective Sample Management Help Researchers?

Sample management systems enable researchers to store and track samples with high accuracy and precision, while also providing quality control capabilities. The storage conditions of the samples must be carefully monitored to ensure their stability and viability over time. A number of factors, including temperature, humidity, and light exposure, can affect sample quality and must be carefully controlled. Automated sample management systems can be programmed to maintain specific storage conditions and alert researchers if any deviations occur.
