CO-RE (Compressed O-Ring Expansion) technology, exclusive to Hamilton liquid handling platforms, consistently delivers precision, accuracy, and reproducibility during liquid handling, along with enhanced functionality, beyond that of pipetting, for user convenience.

Every Hamilton liquid handling platform pipetting channel incorporates an O-ring that precisely fits with a small groove found only in CO-RE tips. This lock-and-key design facilitates an air-tight seal for the utmost in accuracy, precision, and reproducibility regardless of the liquid being used. Additionally, force-less tip pickup and ejection eliminate the risks of tip deformity, aerosol generation, and premature equipment wear commonly found in inferior force-driven automated systems.

No other disposable tip product can mimic this exacting performance.

Benefits of Hamilton Technology

Highly Precise and Consistent Tip Attachment

Lock-and-key functionality secures the CO-RE tip during pickup and transfers without the use of force.

Gentle Tip Detachment

CO-RE tips are gently ejected when the O-Ring is released without the use of force. This prevents the formation of aerosols when detaching tips.

No Working Fluid

Hamilton liquid handling platform channels use Air Displacement Pipetting instead of a working fluid, eliminating the risk of contamination with liquid-driven pipetting technologies.

Less Impactful Equipment Wear

In addition to force-less tip pickup and ejection, CO-RE technology enables highly sensitive monitoring of z-step losses to protect against a premature need for maintenance.

Use Multiple Tip Sizes and CO-RE Tools in the Same Workflow

CO-RE technology also extends functionality to convenient tools such as transfer paddles. The Hamilton liquid handling platform automatically recognizes each distinctive tip size and CO-RE tool for a seamless, hassle-free workflow.

Pressure Monitoring Technology

The tight lock-and-key seal allows Hamilton liquid handling platforms to monitor the channels using sensitive pressure sensors, and adjust pipetting accordingly.

Total Aspiration and Dispense Monitoring (TADM) and Monitored Air Displacement (MAD) pipetting channels are equipped with a pressure sensor that allows real-time pressure monitoring during the entire pipetting process. The Monitored Air Displacement system detects aspiration problems such as clots or empty wells.

Anti-Droplet Control (ADC) uses pressure sensors to detect and compensate for real-time pressure changes while pipetting volatile organic solutions.

Liquid Detection Monitoring

Channels equipped with pressure and capacitance sensors detect the liquid level through pressure-based and capacitive Liquid Level Detection (pLLD and cLLD, respectively). Dual LLD utilizes both sets of sensors to guarantee optimum pipetting. Hamilton’s black conductive CO-RE tips facilitate capacitance sensing with the conductivity properties tailored for the capacitive liquids.
