SYRINGE USE

■ Syringe is designed to dispense upon depressing the lever. Dispense speed is increased proportionally with lever travel.

■ Aspiration is performed by pulling the plunger button back from the flange.

■ Maximum syringe volume is approximately 6.5 μL.

BEFORE SEATING THE NEEDLE:

Note that when fully inserted, the syringe plunger protrudes from the glass barrel at the needle connection end.

*ALWAYS draw the plunger up ~ 1 µL before inserting the needle and tightening the nut that secures the needle as this ensures proper needle seating and avoids damage to the ferrule.

MAXIMIZING NEEDLE LIFETIME

Always ensure fluid is in the syringe when performing a full-length, full-release of the lever. Failing to have liquid in the syringe when performing this function will damage the needle and needle ferrule. This may also cause needle clogging.

SYRINGE CARE AND MAINTENANCE

■ After each injection, aspirate and dispense several microliters of deionized water, and repeat this procedure 3 times.

■ With the needle attached to the glass barrel, detach the glass barrel from the blue plunger support. Use only the metal components to separate the connection between the blue plunger support and the stainless steel hub at the end of the glass barrel. Be careful not to bend the plunger when sliding the glass barrel away from the syringe body.

■ Spray the plunger with 70% ethanol and use a lint-free tissue to carefully dry it, pulling the wipe lengthwise along the plunger from the body to the plunger tip.

■ Use a squeeze bottle to flush the 70% ethanol through the glass barrel and needle until drops appear at the needle tip.

■ In a fume hood, remove the needle from the glass barrel, and with compressed air, gently dry both needle and barrel.
