Bioanalysis is the quantitative analysis of xenobiotics (such as drugs and drug metabolites) and biotics (such as therapeutic antibodies and other biologicals) in biological systems for drug discovery, usually in humans and animal model systems. For these analyses, usually LC-MS or immunoassays (most commonly ELISA) are used.
For both methods, sample preparation is the key for reliable results. Hamilton has a proven track record in automating full workflows for this two analysis methods. For immunoassays, we automated whole workflows including dilution series for the samples and sample detection. For LC-MS sample preparation, we automated protocols such as protein precipitation, solid phase extraction (SPE) on columns and plates and liquid liquid extraction (LLE) from a variety of matrices such as serum, plasma or blood.
