VisiPro Optical DO Sensors (discontinued)
The discontinued VisiPro Optical DO sensor family was designed for industrial environments with standard and Ex versions for use in explosive environments. Refer to the table below to find equivalent replacement sensors.
Hamilton's own substitutes VisiFerm mA and VisiTrace mA meet and exceed the specification and performance requirements and reduce the effects of ageing and temperature with 100% backwards compatibility to existing installation. VisiFerm mA and VisiTrace mA are delivered with Ex approval as standard.

Intrinsically Safe
The VisiPro is the first optical oxygen sensor with approval for use in hazardous environments. The sensor output is a 4 - 20 mA signal with overlaid HART protocol.
VisiFerm Sensor Caps
The standard H0 cap is the default options for most applications. The H2 cap has a convex design to minimize bubble accumulation and a PTFE membrane that increases the chemical resistance.
VisiPro Cables
Hamilton provides open ended cables that are compatible with the VisiPro's M12-4 connector. Additionally a powered cable is available for configuration and diagnostics when the sensor is not connected to the process.
Wireless Calibration and Diagnostics
The VisiPro has integrated Bluetooth for connection to most PCs, tablets, and mobile devices. The ArcAir application streamlines sensor management and documentation.
Specific Applications
-
App Note - Arc sensors in oncologic and biosimilar applications
Innoxtorres, a Spanish bioreactor manufacturer took advantage of Arc sensor technology to integrate EasyFerm Plus and VisiFerm DO sensors directly into their control system. -
Technical Note - Humidity and pressure compensation in DO measurement
The effects of different humidities and pressures on DO measurement in the gas phase are explained and methods for their compensation described.

What is the expected lifetime and when should I replace my ODO cap?
ODO cap health is process specific, with a cap quality indicator in ArcAir representing the general health of the ODO cap. ODO cap quality replacement is advised at 35%, however, some customers may replace ODO caps as part of a preventative maintenance program before reaching 35%. Click to learn more. -
Can I use a VisiFerm, VisiPro, or VisiTrace for gas phase oxygen measurements?
Yes. Optical DO sensors can be used for monitoring oxygen contents in air as well as dissolved oxygen. -
Does atmospheric pressure impact my gas phase oxygen measurement?
Yes, atmospheric pressure directly impacts the partial pressure of oxygen in the measured air and is linearly proportional to the measured oxygen content.

Firmware Updates for Arc Products
Hamilton Arc and VisiFerm ECS sensors rely upon internal firmware for their operation. Periodic firmware updates ensure that the sensor has the latest features and fixes any pre-existing bugs that may exist. -
Comparing Optical To Polarographic Dissolved Oxygen Measurement
There is a clear trend in the market towards replacing polarographic with optical dissolved oxygen. When evaluating the switch to optical, engineers must consider if there will be any impact on the current process due to the change in measurement principle. -
Optical Dissolved Oxygen Sensor Caps
There are several different options for optical dissolved oxygen (ODO) caps. This article provides recommendations for each product.
