Although the Microlab 500 is no longer manufactured Hamilton Company continues to provided a wide variety of optional accessories to support this instrument. From Disposable Tip Hand Probes to tubing clips the ideal accessory for any application is only a click away.
At the heart of a MICROLAB 500 instrument is the Hamilton GASTIGHT syringe. The precision glass barrel and finely machined polymer components result in unmatched precision and accuracy. Additionally the chemically inert materials allow the ML500 to be used in harsh environments not possible with other dispensing devices.
The standard ML500 valves use a rotary PTFE plug design that results in the most chemically resistant fluid path possible. Only PTFE-based materials (PTFE and Kel-F) come in contact with the fluid to be dispensed. The rotary valve eliminates inaccuracies commonly seen in less accurate check valve systems.
The ML500 tubing assemblies are manufactured using thick walled FEP tubing. The thick walled tubing is desirable because it resists kinking during the rigors of the workday. The tubing comes in two different sizes 12 gauge and 18 gauge. The 12 gauge tubing has a larger inner diameter and should be used with syringe sizes larger than 2.5 mL or with viscous liquids. The dispense tubing is used to connect from the valve to the hand probe. It is tapered at one end to minimize contamination from one sample to the next. The Fill tubing is used to connect between the valve and the reagent reservoir and comes with a blunt tip. Tubes are precut to 650 mm for fill tubing and 900 mm for dispense tubing. Custom length part numbers are available and can generally be shipped within 7-10 business days.
Hamilton Company provides a variety of different hand probes to accommodate any application. The Concorde CT Hand Probe comes standard with most Single Syringe Dispenser and Dual Syringe Diluter models. The Dual Push-Button Hand Probe comes standard with most Dual Syringe Dispenser pumps. The Concorde CT Hand Probe can be converted in a Luer Lock Probe using the Hamilton Luer Lock Conversion Kit.
These disposable tips were chosen for their optimal functionality with their complimentary Disposable Tip Hand Probe. The 200 μL tip is used with the 35 μL hand probe to dispense a maximum volume of 100 μL. The 300 μL tip is used with the 135 μL hand probe to dispense a maximum volume of 200 μL. Finally the 5 mL pipette tip is used with the 5 mL hand probe to dispense a maximum volume of 5 mL.
The ML500 Control Software allows for the connection of any ML500 B/C Series instrument to be connected to a PC via a standard serial port. If the computer is not equipped with a serial port a USB to Serial adapter must be purchased.
A variety of RS-232 communication cables are available for connecting ML500's and Modular Valve Positioner's (MVP's) to a standard PC serial port. Different connector and cable configurations are required for direct connection to a PC or for daisy chaining of two instruments and Hamilton provides them all. If your computer does not have a serial port it will be necessary to purchase a USB to Serial converter from a third party vendor.
