Store Gels Easily

The Gel CaddyT is designed to protect delicate gels and eliminate breakage. The Gel Caddy allows for imaging, spot cutting, shipping and storage for long periods of time (from several months to years).

Minimal buffer is required to seal the gel, reducing the risk of breakage during shipping or even routine manipulation. The Gel Caddy is significantly larger than the gel to allow for sealing and resealing.  Use of the Impulse Heat Sealer minimizes the risk of a faulty seal and improves the gel's life span.

This is a 25 second exposure of a Sypro stained gel without the Gel Caddy. The BSA was run in each lane at differing concentrations. Lanes 1-3 have 20 pmol BSA, 4-6 have 10 pmol, 7-9 have 5 pmol, 10-12 have 2.5 pmol, 13-15 have 1.25 and 16-18 have 0.625 pmol of BSA. This was a 10% precast gel from BioRad with 18μl of sample loaded into each lane.

This is a mass spec signature from a spot cut from the first lane on the gel. The spot contained approximately 4 moles of BSA. This data shows a typical signature resulting form the digestion of BSA with Trypsin.

With Gel Caddy

This is a mass spec signature from a spot cut from the first lane on the gel with the Gel Caddy as a backing.  The spot contained approximately 4 pmoles of BSA. This data shows a typical signature resulting form the digestion of BSA with Trypsin with no significant additional peaks from the Gel Caddy.
