Job Description

Under the immediate supervision of the Machine Shop supervisor, performs various tasks associated with the manufacture of a multitude of machined parts to ensure a defect free product.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide all precautions to ensure personal and departmental safety.  Reports any problems to Supervisor and/or Leadperson. 
  • Must be knowledgeable about MSDS sheets as they pertain to department chemicals and procedures.
  • Must be familiar with all machine safety precautions and follow rigorously to prevent machine crashes/damage and ensure the longevity of said machine.
  • Consistently manufacture machine parts so as not to hinder future sequences.
  • Responsible for maintaining entire area in and around machine in a neat and orderly manner for good manufacturing practices and to assist in reducing or eliminating manufacturing related quality defects.
  • Responsible for providing positive communication to all concerned with the manufacture of machined parts.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep of assigned CNC machine.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • This position is for the swing shift. Swing shift hours are 3:30pm to 12:00am.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must consistently maintain a production rate of 90% or better including set up beyond standard, all tool and run times while not exceeding a 2% defect rate.
  • Must demonstrate competence in efficient programming techniques and the ability to manipulate software to correct program and machining problems as they arise.
  • Must demonstrate a continuing competence in general problem solving as they arise on all machine parts.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable on all regular set ups and be able to accomplish same within standard set up times.
  • Must have a demonstrated competence in reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints as they relate to dimensional and quality callouts.
  • Must have a demonstrated knowledge in the use of all applicable measuring devices pertaining to manufactured products. 
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.  Must be able to reach, bend, and stoop.

Education and Experience
  • Must have High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of CNC experience.
