New Features for the Microlab VANTAGE Liquid Handling System Add Cost-Effective Functionality

Reno, Nevada (January 25, 2016) – Hamilton Robotics introduces new hardware functionality and advanced software features for the Microlab VANTAGE Liquid Handling System, the latest evolution in integrated, high-throughput laboratory automation. The new Quad CO-RE Gripper adds a cost-effective option for labware transportation on the Microlab VANTAGE, while new, real-time visualization features within INSTINCT V software offer instant feedback to the operator.

Utilizing Hamilton’s patented CO-RE technology, pipette channels now serve a dual purpose: pipetting and labware transport. The Quad CO-RE Gripper transforms the pipetting channels into versatile, on-deck, transportation tools. Featuring sensors for confirmation of labware movement, the Quad CO-RE Gripper provides laboratories certainty for automated workflows while potentially eliminating the need to purchase a separate, more expensive, robotic arm.

“As laboratories look to fully automate more processes within their workflows, liquid handling workstations need to do more than just pipette,” explains Del Ray Jackson, product manager for the Microlab VANTAGE. “Laboratories are also looking to maximize their capital equipment investments; the Quad CO-RE Gripper is an affordable labware transportation option that highlights our ability to offer dual functionality of the pipette channels.”

New functionality for Hamilton’s INSTINCT V software meets researchers’ desire to simulate and visual their assays three dimensionally, without an actual instrument run. The new 3D simulation within INSTINCT V saves precious instrument usage time, consumables and reagents while simplifying method development.

The Micolab VANTAGE is a compact, modular platform offering enhanced performance, increased walk-away time and optimized capabilities. Booth visitors during SLAS2016 can experience how Hamilton Robotics and the Microlab VANTAGE are helping laboratories create fully automated workflows for synthetic biology, next-generation sequencing and mass spectrometry.
