Successful project with Sanofi-Aventis Germany
(Bonaduz, 2.6.2014) – Hamilton’s Arc™-sensors can now be integrated into process control systems via Profibus DP protocol.
For several years, the digital sensors for the parameters pH, ORP, conductivity and O2 (optical and amperometric) ensure a direct connection via 4-20 mA or Modbus protocol and eliminate the need for a transmitter.
Those, who want to exploit the full performance of the sensors, chose the digital connection. To meet all requirements in the world of processing, the company recently developed a script for the Deutschmann Unigate® CL-Profibus protocol converter together with Sanofi-Aventis Germany. With this solution, the integration in process control systems becomes as easy as child's play. Furthermore, the performance of ArcTM-technology can be used to full extent.
Thanks to the digital communication between sensor and process control system, the operator is able to access not only the obligatory measuring values but also the quality relevant data like sensor- and communication status, calibration data or even information concerning the measuring point which is stored within the sensor. Registers which are not included by default, can be added on request. Therefore, the storage of all quality relevant data can occur directly via the control system.
Within the development process, a test-series in cooperation with Sanofi-Aventis Germany took place. The Hamilton sensors, using the protocol converter, were tested on a Profibus DP Yokogawa System.
As a consequence, further solutions with interfaces to FF or Profinet are possible.
